Crowns

Dental crowns are a common way to restore damaged teeth.  The doctors at Chapel Street Dental use crowns to repair teeth that have been chipped or have a significant amount of decay.  Our natural-looking crowns fit right over a damaged tooth like a little cap. These crowns restore function to a patient’s teeth and blend perfectly with their smile.

The process for installing a crown can usually be completed in two visits.  To prepare the tooth your dentist will remove any decay, and may need to reshape the remaining tooth to ensure a great fit for the new crown.  Once the tooth has been prepared, your dentist will take an impression of the area.  This impression is sent to a dental lab where the crown is fabricated.  Ask us about temporary options to wear while your new crown is being made.  Once your custom crown is made, the crown will be cemented into place by your dentist at a second appointment.  Our crowns blend right into your natural smile and can last a lifetime!

Bridges

Bridges are a common restorative option for missing teeth.  The doctors at Chapel Street Dental restore patient’s smiles by using healthy teeth on either side of a missing tooth to anchor a permanent replacement in its place.  This is accomplished by using caps on the teeth on either side.  A bridge restores function to the mouth and blends naturally into a patient’s smile.

A permanent bridge can usually be completed in two appointments.  First, the teeth on either side of the gap may be contoured in order to make sure the bridge will fit perfectly.  Then impressions of the mouth are taken and sent to a dental laboratory where the custom product is made.  We can provide a temporary bridge to wear while the permanent restoration is being fabricated. On a second visit, the bridge will be cemented into place.  Bridges can be replaced if needed, but with proper care bridges can last a lifetime.

Fillings

The doctors at Chapel Street Dental apply fillings for patients of all ages to restore damaged teeth and create beautiful smiles.  Receiving a filling is a standard and non-invasive procedure that is typically completed in a short appointment with local anesthetic.  To fill a cavity, the area is numbed before a dentist removes any decay from the affected tooth.  The tooth is then thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the filling material.

Amalgam fillings are made from a mixture of metals that bond together to create a hard, strong filling for a compromised tooth.  Amalgam fillings are a very durable option, and some patients choose to use metal fillings on their back teeth.  Composite fillings perform the same task as metal fillings, and are more aesthetically matched to the look of your natural teeth.  These fillings are typically used on front teeth and surface cavities.  Once the material is placed, it is trimmed and polished to blend right into a patient’s natural smile.

Crowns Restore Smiles

Crowns are a great option for restoring function and aesthetics to teeth that have a significant amount of decay or are chipped.  A tooth with minor damage can be repaired with a crown before it reaches the point of needing to be extracted or replaced with an implant.  At Chapel Street Dental, the safe and non-invasive procedure of installing a crown is typically completed in two appointments.

The process of fitting a patient with a custom crown begins with the dentist removing any decay from the damaged tooth.  A crown fits over the tooth like a little cap, and to ensure a great fit for the crown, the dentist may need to contour the tooth that remains.  When the tooth has been prepared, an impression of the mouth is taken and sent to a dental laboratory for the custom product to be fabricated.  Once the custom crown is made, it is cemented into place by the dentist at a second appointment.
